“It’s a peculiar thing,” the fancy rabbit sighed, adjusting his collar. “How the forest looms so near, yet feels worlds away.”

His companion nodded sagely, ears twitching in the evening breeze. “Indeed. And stranger still how we sit here, pondering such matters.”

The pair gazed at the misty tree line, lost in thought. After a somewhat ponderous silence, the fancy rabbit mused, “Do you suppose the trees ever wonder about us?”

“Oh, I shouldn’t think so,” replied his friend. “They’re likely content with just keeping to themselves.”
